Swimming Takes on Nationally-Ranked Aggies

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – – The LSU swimming and diving team will take on the Texas A&M Aggies Friday afternoon at the Student Rec Center which is located on the Texas A&M campus.

“This is a very critical meet for our team,” said Meador. “We need to bounce back from the heartbreaking loss to Kentucky last week, and we have some nagging injuries to deal with, but believe that our team will step it up and make it a great meet.”

The 25th ranked Lady Tigers enter the meet with a 6-1 overall record, and a 2-1 SEC mark. In last year’s meeting against Texas A&M in Baton Rouge, the Aggies won both competitions. The LSU men lost 152-91, while the Lady Tigers also came up short 144-99.

The 5-1, 1-1 LSU men’s swimming and diving team is ranked 18th in the nation coming into the meet against the No. 15 Aggies. The Lady Aggies, who are 22nd in the nation, have a 6-1 record on the season. In their last contest, the Aggies swept Kansas by winning on both the men’s and women’s side. The men won 165-123, while the women were victorious 163-132.

“Texas A&M is a very good team, and they are especially tough to beat at their home,” Meador said. “We need to come into the meet tomorrow with enthusiasm, confidence, and determination. If we do that then we will have a good shot to win.”

In LSU’s last meet, the Lady Tigers swept every event and beat Wright State 130-45. The men were also victorious as they won impressively, 120-75.

The meet between the LSU Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies will begin at 4 p.m. Friday in College Station, Texas.
