COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The LSU men’s and women’s swimming teams will take on both Colorado College and Washington State University Monday afternoon in Colorado Springs, Colo., at 1 p.m. CST.
This double-dual meet will be the first competition for the Tigers (2-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) and Lady Tigers (4-0, 2-0 SEC) since Nov. 6 when both teams defeated Alabama in Tuscaloosa for only the second time in 21 years.
“We’re really looking forward to this meet,” LSU head coach Rick Meador said. “It has been almost two months since we’ve competed, and both of our teams are eager to swim on Monday. They have been working out extremely hard over the break, and hopefully, we’ll start the new millenium with a good meet.”
This will be the first-ever meeting between LSU and Washington State, as well as the Tigers’ opening inaugural meet with Colorado College. The Washington State women’s team finished the 1998-99 seaosn ranked 30th in the nation, only four spots behind the Lady Tigers.
“Washington State has a really good team,” Meador said. “They are returning some extremely talented girls from last year’s team and they picked up some good freshmen, so it should be a competitive meet.”
