BATON ROUGE — The LSU Volleyball team continued its excel this past year in the classroom as a conference-high nine players earned spots on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, which requires a 3.0 yearly grade-point average.
“This is a great accomplishment for our program,” said LSU coach Fran Flory. “It sends a message that our team is here for an education just as much as it is to play volleyball.”
LSU also had six players with a GPA of above 3.5. That number is higher than the number of players four teams placed on the Honor Roll. It is equal to three others.
Senior Meg Norwood and juniors Christy Carr, Jill Lytle and Lauren OConnor are all repeat members on the Honor Roll. This is the third straight year Norwood has been recognized.
In addition to the SEC Academic Honor Roll, Norwood was named to the GTE Academic All-District Team for the second consecutive year.
