Lady Tigers Take on Undefeated UL-Lafayette

Tulane Knocks Off Lady Tigers, 76-72

NEW ORLEANS — After Katrina Hibbert, DeTrina White and April Brown fouled out with less than three minutes to play, the LSU women’s basketball team couldn’t overcome the homestanding No. 24-ranked Green Wave and lost its first game since the season opener, 76-72, Friday night.

LSU, ranked 11th going into the game, fell to 10-2 on the season while Tulane improved to 11-0.

The Lady Tigers trailed by eight points, 74-66, without three of its starters and less than three minutes to play.

However, after cutting the lead to three, 75-72, LSU’s leading scorer Marie Ferdinand turned the ball over with less than 15 seconds remaining with a chance to tie the game and send it into overtime.

The Lady Tigers’ loss was its first since an opening-game loss to Texas Tech on the road in the Four in the Fall Classic.

LSU returns to action Thursday night when it takes on SEC rival Tennessee at 7 p.m. in the PMAC. LSU has beaten the Lady Vols the past two times Tennessee has visited Baton Rouge, including last season’s unset win over the top-ranked team in the nation.
