BATON ROUGE- LSU’s Ashley Mitnick has been named to the All-Southeastern Conference soccer team, it was announced by the league Thursday.
Mitnick, a freshman defender/forward from Lilbrun, Ga., was named to the second-team becoming the Tigers’ first all-SEC selection since Jackie Cooper earned second-team honors in 1996 and only the third in school history to earn a spot on the league’s postseason squad.
Mitnick started all 20 games for the Tigers and finished tied for the team in with five goals and second with 10 total points. She led the Tigers with two game-winning goals.
Florida led all teams with four first-team selections, including SEC Player of the Year Sarah Yohe. Keri Boyce of Kentucky was named Freshman of the Year, while Kentucky coach Warren Lipka earned Coach of the Year honors.
