BATON ROUGE–The LSU softball team has signed three recruits for the 2001 season. The young ladies signing with LSU are Kelly Levesque, Sara Fitzgerald and Aleshia Perry.
“We are very excited about the potential and talent these three young ladies will bring to our team,” said Head Coach Glenn Moore. “We are glad that they chose LSU.”
Levesque is a senior with a 4.0 grade point average from Sun City, Calif. She plays shortstop, second base and center field for the Southern California Firecrackers Gold.
“Kelly has one of the best gloves we have seen,” said Moore. “She is very quick and knows the game.”
Fitzgerald is also a senior from Houston, Texas. She plays middle infielder and outfielder for the Texas Heat at the A.S.A. Gold Level.
“Sara is a ‘get it done’ type of athlete,” said Moore. “She is very versatile playing every position on the field except pitcher.”
Perry will transfer from Okaloosa Walton Community College where she is an outfielder. Perry is originally from Pineville, La.
“Aleshia is an exceptional outfielder with a better than average arm,” said Moore. “She has great bat control and her speed will add to our arsenal of weapons for aggressive base running.”
The LSU softball team will begin its season on February 12 and 13 at home when they host the Tiger Classic.
