BATON ROUGE – – The LSU swimming and diving teams will compete at the UNC Nike Cup Invitational this weekend, on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC.
The invitational begins on Thursday and runs through Saturday. Preliminary heats and finals will be held each day.
“This is an important weekend for us,” LSU head coach Rick Meador said. “It doesn’t count as a win or a loss, but it is an excellent opportunity for our team to swim against some tough opponents. The caliber of talent at this meet is exceptional.”
In addition to LSU and the host Tar Heels, other participating teams are Southeastern Conference rival Kentucky, Texas A&M, Syracuse, North Carolina State, Old Dominion, East Carolina, and Connecticut.
The LSU swimming and diving teams are both off to excellent starts this season. The women are currently 4-0 in dual-meet competition, 2-0 in the SEC. The men are 2-0 overall, 1-0 in the SEC.
The Tigers return to the LSU Natatorium on December 18-19 when they serve as host of the Cajun Diving Classic.
