BATON ROUGE — Doneeka and Roneeka Hodges, two of the most sought-after high school seniors in the country, have signed to play women’s basketball at LSU, head coach Sue Gunter announced on Wednesday.
Doneeka and Roneeka Hodges, who attend O.P. Walker High School in New Orleans, will become the first set of twins to play women’s basketball at LSU.
“They are both very dynamic players,” Gunter said. “They play the game with a great deal of intensity and the thing that is so impressive about them is their basketball savvy. They truly have a passion for the game. We are very fortunate to get them.”
Roneeka stands 5-foot-11 and will play the shooting guard and small forward position, while Doneeka is 5-9 and can play both guard spots. Over the summer, Roneeka was named AAU All-American and both players attended the prestigious Nike Camp. Both players have also earned all-state honors at O.P. Walker.
According to the All Star Girl’s Basketball Report, Roneeka is rated as the ninth-best high school player in America, while Doneeka is rated No. 11.
“They are both such well-rounded as players,” Gunter said. “They are fundamentally sound and they are exceptional athletes. We are very excited to have them join us.”
