Tigers End Baseball Signing Period with Four More

BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU baseball program received national letters-of-intent Saturday from four more recruits, bringing the Tigers’ total of fall signees to 12. Joining the LSU program are third baseman Trae Duncan of Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College; pitcher Jason Miller of Sarasota (Fla.) High School; outfielder Sean Barker of Bakersfield (Calif.) Community College; and pitcher Brian Wilson of Londonderry (N.H.) High School.

Duncan, a product of Broadmoor High in Baton Rouge, hit .414 last season at Mississippi Gulf Coast JC with 17 homers and 72 RBI. The 6-0, 225-pound infielder earned 1999 JUCO all-America honors.

Miller, a left-hander, was named Pitcher of the Year in Sarasota County after posting a 9-1 mark last season with a 1.29 ERA. He pitched 71 innings and recorded 122 strikeouts.

The 6-3, 215-pound Barker hit .451 (37-for-82) with six doubles, 20 steals and 34 runs scored. At Stockdale High School in Bakersfield, he was named the 1998 Outstanding Student-Athlete in Kern County.

Wilson, a 6-1, 185-pound right-hander, recorded a 3-2 mark last season with a 1.34 ERA. He registered 66 strikeouts and 18 walks in 47 innings of work.

The signees are scheduled to enroll at LSU in the fall of 2000. The Tigers expect to add several more players during the fall signing period, which ends Wednesday.
