Baseball Adds Four More Signees

BATON ROUGE, La. — The LSU baseball program received national letters-of-intent Friday from four recruits, bringing the Tigers? total of fall signees to eight. Joining the LSU program are catcher Brandon Wilson of Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge; pitcher Ryan Larson of Sacramento (Cal.) City College; pitcher/first baseman Jamie Shields of Hart High School in Newhall, Cal.; and catcher Jared Abruzzo of El Capitan High in Lakeside, Cal.

Wilson, a 6-4, 190-pound all-state selection, batted .494 (41-for-95) in 1999 with a school-record 18 homers and 46 RBI, as he led Christian Life to the District 7-2A championship. Wilson, an honor roll student, batted .350 with six home runs as a sophomore in 1998.

Larson, a 5-11, 195-pound right-hander, helped lead Sacramento City to the 1999 California JUCO championship. Larson continues a tradition of Sacramento City pitchers enrolling at LSU, as former Tiger hurlers Jake Esteves and Brandon Bowe were also products of the northern California school. A native of Rocklin, Cal., Larson was 10-1 with a 0.65 ERA during his senior year of high school.
