BATON ROUGE – The LSU football team practiced for an hour and forty-five minutes Wednesday afternoon in shoulder pads and shorts to prepare for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The workout was only the second under interim head coach Hal Hunter who is replacing Gerry DiNardo for the remainder of the season.

“We are back in our regular Tuesday, Wednesday routine right now,” said Hunter. “We’ll probably go another good hour to two hours again tomorrow and then take Friday off. The team understands that you can’t expect to win games if you don’t practice and prepare for them.”

The Tigers opened practice by working on special teams and individual drills. Then the starting offensive and defensive teams ran plays against the scout squad in order to familiarize themselves with Arkansas’ tendencies and personnel.

LSU (2-8) is working especially hard during its off week to end their disappointing season with a victory. The Razorbacks will try to elevate their record to 7-3 this Saturday when they take on Mississippi State.

Practice ended with a seven-on-seven drill in which the starting offense worked on its passing game against the Tigers’ starting defense. Both the offense and defense looked sharp in the non-contact workout and the team’s enthusiasm was unusually high despite the events of the past week.

The Tigers last game of the season is November 26 against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Kickoff is at 1:30 in Tiger Stadium, and the game will be televised nationally on CBS.
