Donations Being Accepted For Injured Ex-Tiger

BATON ROUGE – Donations will be accepted at LSU’s football game against Houston on Saturday night to assist in paying medical bills for former Tiger football player Chris Beard who was severely injured in a Bayou Beast football game last summer.

The project is being sponsored by LSU’s CHAMPS/Lifeskills program, run by LSU student-athletes in all sports.

Tables will be set up on the west side of Tiger Stadium by the Eagle 98.1 van outside the Stadium Club elevator, and at various other locations around the stadium on game day. Volunteers will be wearing Chris Beard t-shirts before and during the game.

Beard was paralyzed last summer during an indoor football game. He underwent spine and neck surgery, but remains hospitalized from the shoulders down. He is currently an inpatient at the Texas Institute for Rehabilitation and Research in Houston.

Donations can also be sent to the Chris Beard Fund, Bank One University Office, 250 West State Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Checks should be made payable to the Chris Beard Fund. For more information, contact Keia Howell at (225) 388-6643 or (225) 388-8496.
