Men’s Golf Takes 7th at TOC

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.–The LSU men shot a final day 3-under par 285 finishing the 12th-annual Coca-Cola Tennessee Tournament of Champions in seventh place overall with a team total of 879. The team stroke total was the lowest score of any team on the final day of the tournament.

No. 25 Augusta State took the team title after one playoff hole after tying Virginia in regulation play. ASU finished the tournament with a 5-under par total of 859 for third place.

The individual crown went to Augusta State’s Michael Webb, who won the title with a birdie put on the third playoff hole against Tennessee’s Andrew Black. Both golfers finished the tournament at 9-under 207.

LSU’s top finishers individually were junior Alan Morgan, who fired a 54 hole total of 218 at 2-over par, and senior Jeremy Wilkinson came in tied for 23rd position with a 219, one stroke back of Morgan at 3-over.

Also competing for the Tigers were sophomore John Humphries, who finished one stroke back of Wilkinson at 4-over 220, tied in 27th, and senior Jason Humphries, who tied for 45th position with an 8-over par 224. Rounding out the scoring for the Tigers was sophomore Michael Beckers, finishing the weekend in a tie for 64th with a 12-over 228.

The Tigers return to action Nov. 1-2 when it hosts the Country Club of Louisiana Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the Country Club of Louisiana.
