BATON ROUGE – – The LSU swimming and diving teams will hold their second intrasquad meet of the preseason in the annual Purple and Gold Intrasquad Meet on Friday afternoon at the LSU Natatorium. The meet will begin at 3 p.m.
The preseason meets are used to help prepare the team for the regular season and as a learning experience for the freshmen. The Purple and Gold Intrasquad Meet also gives head coach Rick Meador a chance to see who is performing well, and who will travel with the team.
Last year’s event ended in a tie with the score 233-233. It marked just the second tie in 10-year history of the meet. The only other draw in the Purple-Gold record book took place in 1991.
This will be the final intrasquad meet for the LSU swimming and diving teams. The Lady Tigers begin their season Saturday morning, October 23, with a home meet against Arkansas. The meet will begin at 11 a.m. in the LSU Natatorium. The men open their dual meet season on the road November 6 against SEC rival Alabama.
