CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The LSU men’s golf team completed play today at the Cavalier Classic golf tournament in 11th place out of 15 teams. Wake Forest took the tournament title while Jay Morgan of Wake Forest was the individual medalist.
Wake Forest took the team championship with 54 hole total score of seven under par 857, followed by host team Virginia, at 1-under par 863. LSU finished with a 27-over par 891.
Jay Morgan of Wake Forest tamed the Birdwood Golf Club with a two-day total of 6-under par 210, followed by Ryan McLain of Richmond with a 3-under 213 for the tournament.
The top finisher for the Tigers was senior Jeremy Wilkinson, who finished the tournament at 3 over with a two day score of 219. With identical two day totals of seven over par 223, Alan Morgan and Jason Humphries finished the tournament tied in 37th position. Michael Beckers shot a 13 over par 229, and Mike Vallillo shot a 15 over par 231.
The Tigers see action again October 11-12, when they travel to Knoxville Tennessee to participate in the Tournament of Champions. The event will be hosted by the Holston Hills Country Club.
