BATON ROUGE–The LSU softball team wrapped up the last day of the Collegiate Classic with a 2-0 record concluding the weekend 5-1.
In game one on Sunday, LSU defeated Bossier Parish Community College 8-0 at Tiger Park. Shaunte’ Fremin had a home run during the first game which was her second of the tournament. Ashlee Ducote hit a triple, and Stephanie Hastings had two doubles. Freshman Brienne Berry also had a double, and Dee Douglas stole three bases.
For game two, LSU faced Northwestern State at Tiger Park, beating them 2-0. During the second inning, Auburne Zoiber was hit by a pitch. She later scored on a single by Hastings. In the sixth inning, Douglas stole home plate after advancing past second base to third on a single by Hastings.
The Tigers will begin regular season play in February with the Tiger Classic tournament to be held at Tiger Park.
