BATON ROUGE — The LSU women’s basketball team received its first preseason ranking this week as Athlon Sports Magazine has tabbed the Lady Tigers No. 11 in its preseason college basketball issue.
The Lady Tigers return four starters, including National Freshman of the Year in DeTrina White and two-time all-Southeastern Conference selection in Katrina Hibbert, from last year’s 22-8 team. The Lady Tigers placed second in the SEC last season with a school-record 10 league wins and reached the Sweet 16 at the NCAA Tournament.
Two SEC teams are ranked in the top 10 led by Georgia at No. 2, followed by Tennessee at No. 3. Connecticut is the No. 1 ranked team. Other SEC teams in the top 25 include Auburn at No. 19 and Florida at No. 21.
