BATON ROUGE- LSU track and field star Bianca Rockett appears in this week’s edition of Sports Illustrated in the Faces in the Crowd section, an area of the national publication dedicated to up and coming young talent.
Rockett won both the women’s long and triple jumps at the USA Track and Field Junior Championships earlier this summer, catching the eye of Sports Illustrated.
Her mark of 43 feet 1/4 inch at the USA Junior meet ranks fifth in LSU history.
The sophomore from Kankakee, Ill., was an NCAA qualifier in the triple jump both indoors and outdoors during the 1999 season. She was the SEC indoor and outdoor runner-up to teammate Keisha Spencer in the triple jump last season and scored in the long jump at both SEC meets as well.
