BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU signees Rob Bowen and Terry Tiffee have signed contracts with the Minnesota Twins, opting to begin their pro baseball careers instead of attending college.
Bowen, a catcher from Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Ind., was the Twins’ second-round draft pick; Tiffee, a third baseman from Pratt (Kan.) Community College, was Minnesota’s 26th-round selection.
Five LSU signees have signed professionally since the June draft, including Bowen, Tiffee, pitcher Terry Byron (Florida Marlins), pitcher Josh Teekel (St. Louis Cardinals) and shortstop Josh Wilson (Florida Marlins).
LSU’s returning players and incoming signees are scheduled to begin their five-week fall practice period on September 27. The fall practice session, which will feature several intra-squad scrimmages open to the public, concludes on October 31.
