Men’s Basketball Signee Roland Named JC Player of the Year

BATON ROUGE — LSU men’s basketball signee Lamont Roland has been named the national junior college player of the year by the National Junior College Athletics Association Men’s Basketball Coaches.

The Barton County Community College (Great Bend, Kan.) star earned first-team All-American honors, averaging nearly 25 points a game for the Cougars, taking his team to the championship game in the NJCAA national tournament. Roland earned the award in Division I as chosen by the coaches association.

Barton signed with the Tigers in the spring signing period and will have two years of eligibility remaining after playing his freshman season at Ball State University and this past season at Barton County.
