ATHENS, Ga. — The LSU men’s tennis team suffered another heartbreakingly close 4-3 loss Friday to third-ranked Ole Miss in the quarterfinals of the SEC Championship Tournament.
“We competed at an extremely high level,” LSU head coach Jeff Brown said of his team’s second 4-3 loss to the Rebels this season.
SEC Co-Champion Ole Miss (21-2, 10-1 SEC) ended a six-match win streak for 12th-ranked LSU (19-8, 5-6 SEC) that dated back to the Tigers’ first match with them on April 1.
Jakob Klaeson clinched the match for the Rebels with a three-set win over Ken Skupski on court two. Skupski rallied after being down 2-0 in the second set to force a third set and give the Tigers a shot at knocking off the tournament’s top-seeded team.
