It was only four years ago when Baton Rouge native Artie Brown wasn’t even considering LSU as a choice for college. A lot of things have changed since then, and Brown couldn’t be happier with the results.

Brown, now a senior forward on the Tiger soccer team, looks back on her decision to come to LSU and thinks about the factors that led her here. She wanted a change of scenery from all the usual faces she had seen all through high school.

“Since I was at University High here in Baton Rouge and I had been around LSU all the time, LSU was the last place I wanted to go,” Brown said. “I wanted to get away and go off and do my own thing, but this turned out being the best decision I have ever made. Mainly it was my parents who got me to look at it and give it a chance. It turned out to be good.”

Brown’s parents, Denise and Eugene, play a big role in her everyday life and in the choices she has made throughout the years.

“With their experience they have been through it all, and instead of making a choice for the moment they try to get me to look at the big picture,
