BATON ROUGE — Sophomore Clay Dirks became the first LSU pitcher to record four wins on the season, facing the minimum in a brilliant seven-inning, one-hit outing to pace the second-ranked Tigers past UAB, 7-3, on Saturday at Alex Box Stadium.
LSU (11-2) wrapped up its 10th consecutive regular-season series victory and will go for a sweep at 1 p.m. Sunday. Greg Smith (3-0) will make his regular Sunday start against junior right-hander Randy Mills (0-0, 2.70).
The Tigers have won 20 of their last 21 regular-season series dating back to the 2003 season. LSU
