BOULDER, Colo. — The LSU soccer team dropped its third straight game Friday as they were defeated by Colorado at the Pleasant View Soccer Complex, 4-1. The Tigers battled the entire game but were unable to get anything going.

LSU (4-3-0) were outshot 19-10 by Colorado (5-1-1) although the shots on goal were even with both teams having 7 shots on goal. Senior Artie Brown and sophomore Stacy Bishop both had three shots in the game as Brown had two great shots saved.

“It was just a weird game to have a game statistically be so even and to lose 4-1 is just hard to believe,” said LSU co-head coach George Fotopoulos. “We played much better than we did last weekend and we definitely have improved on a few things and I am just hoping we can get better as we prepare for SEC play.”

Colorado scored the first goal of the match in the 15th minute. The goal was scored by Fran Munnelly on a shot from just outside the 18 yard box, and the assist was given to Kathryn Grandinetti. The Buffs would score again in the 33rd minute on a penalty kick by Katie Griffin to give Colorado a 2-0 lead at the half.

The Buffs would then score another goal in the 66th minute. Ashley Mihalcin tapped it in just past Tiger goal keeper Robyn DesOrmeaux. Katie Griffin was credited with an assist on the goal. In the 75th minute the Buffs scored another goal when Shannon Kellogg placed one in the upper left corner of the goal.

The Tigers got on the board in the 77th minute as Stacy Bishop headed the free kick from Tara Mitnick into the goal.

LSU will play Sunday in the Colorado Classic against Wyoming at noon. The Tigers will start SEC play next weekend at home against Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
