AUBURN, Ala. — The LSU men’s tennis team will travel this weekend to face SEC Western Division rivals Auburn and Alabama. The 11th-ranked Tigers (11-3, 3-3) first play Auburn at 2 p.m. Friday.
Auburn’s Tigers are ranked 45th in the nation and carry a 2-4 SEC record into the match. Freshman Gabor Zoltan Pelva leads Auburn at 95th in the singles rankings and 30th in doubles with partner Alex Schweizer.
LSU is situated at second in the SEC West behind Ole Miss. Auburn, Arkansas and Mississippi State are tied for third and Alabama is fourth at 1-5 in the conference.
LSU features their own ace freshman, 28th-ranked Ken Skupski. Skupski is 3-3 at the No. 1 position in SEC play. He is also ranked 34th in doubles with junior Peter Richman.
The Tigers’ doubles strength continues with 23rd-ranked combo Bryan Fisher and Jason Hazley and the 4-0 tandem of Sebastian Rutka and Cory Ross.
All three of LSU’s SEC losses have come in their Friday matches, but head coach Jeff Brown said that’s just a coincidence.
