BATON ROUGE — LSU’s 17th-ranked Lady Tigers basketball team hosts No. 21 Auburn to begin Southeastern Conference play on Sunday at 2 p.m. CST in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The game is also Pack the PMAC 8 and tickets are $1.00.
LSU (12-2, 0-0 SEC) rides an 11-game win streak into the game after upending No. 25 Arizona 76-66 last Sunday in the final non-conference game of the season. Auburn (12-2, 0-0 SEC) rides an eight-game win streak into the game, including a 59-38 victory over Monmouth at home last Sunday.
Seimone Augustus, a sophomore guard, leads the Lady Tigers into the game. The Baton Rouge native is averaging 16.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game as was named the SEC Player of the Week. Senior Doneeka Hodges is not far behind, averaging 14.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per outing, while senior point guard Temeka Johnson is scoring 13.4 points and dishing out 7.4 assists per contest.
Le’Coe Willingham, a senior forward, leads the Auburn Tigers into the game. She is averaging 15.6 points and a team-high 9.1 rebounds per game.
This will be the 34th meeting between the two SEC rivals. Auburn leads the series 25-8, LSU has won the last two meetings. Auburn also leads the series 9-5 in games played in Baton Rouge.
Following the game, LSU will host Florida on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Maravich Center.
