Synita Gates

Synita Gates was named Assistant Director of Game/Event Management at Louisiana State University in July 2021. She serves as the primary game operations manager for Volleyball, Gymnastics, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, and Softball.

Prior to joining the Tigers, Gates spent two years at The University of Akron. There she managed the day-to-day operations of the James A. Rhodes Arena and oversaw the rental of Shrank Turf Field. Additionally, she served as the game manager for the women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, and softball programs.

Prior to joining the Zips, Gates spent two years at The University of California, Merced, where she served as game manager for cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s volleyball. Her duties included set-up and breakdown, managing game day staff, in-game contest, promotions, ticket and apparel sales, and the Junior Bobcats program. Other tasks included managing a student staff of 45+, handling all cash deposits for the department, overseeing Hostetler Court and Bobcat Field, as well as working with campus groups and departments to coordinate and support special events within recreation and athletic facilities.

The Cleveland, Ohio, native began her career at The University of Charleston (W.Va.) where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sport administration with a minor in business administration in 2013. She then worked as a graduate assistant at the University of Toledo, where she earned a master’s degree in recreation administration in 2016. She is a current member of CEFMA, MOAA, and Women’s Leaders.
