Kirby Koch
Kirby Koch is entering his second year as the LSU Athletics Communications graduate assistant and his fifth year working within the sports information department.
Koch began his career as a volunteer intern in January 2020 and worked his way up by assisting at a variety of events throughout his first year in the position.
In June 2021, Koch took over the communications efforts for the LSU Swimming and Diving program. In this position, he oversees the public relations regarding the team, which ranges from preparing and executing social media strategy, writing press releases, and serving as the media liaison for the program.
After several years of working with the baseball program that has seven national championships, Koch took the lead on day-to-day operations of the social media accounts. In his first year in this role during the 2024 season, the baseball accounts garnered over 7 million engagements, 6.8 million likes and over 50 thousand new followers.
In addition to his work with the swimming/diving and baseball programs, Koch assists the primary SID for football by managing weekly game notes in-season, setting up and executing press conferences for head coach Brian Kelly and players, and completing clerical tasks throughout the season and beyond.
Koch earned his bachelor’s of art in mass communication 2023 where he concentrated on journalism. He is slated to graduate with his master’s of science in leadership and human resource development in May 2025.
