Jordan Pennella
Jordan Pennella is the Assistant Manager of Applied Sport Science for LSU Football. He joined LSU in January 2022.
Jordan is responsible for data science practices on data gathered on the team with the goal of maximizing game-speed, optimizing training and reducing injury risk. Jordan also helps coach the strength & conditioning/speed & power program as part of the Athletic Development Staff.
During the 2021 season, Pennella was a Football Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of Southern California (USC). In addition to aiding in implementing the strength & conditioning program, he coached the Wide Receiver change-of-direction/agility training program and team-wide return-to-play protocols. He also aided in several data science projects including athlete performance monitoring/reporting.
Prior to USC, in 2020, he was an intern Strength & Conditioning Coach at Air Force. He aided in coaching the strength & conditioning programs for the Men’s Water Polo, Men’s Baseball, Men’s Golf, Co-Ed Spirit, Men’s Swim and Men’s Lacrosse teams.
In 2020, he was also a private Performance Coach at Pinnacle Weightlifting in Colorado Springs, focused on SuperTotal, Powerlifting and high school team-sport athletes.
From 2016-2020, prior to his career as a Coach/Sport Scientist, Jordan worked in the finance/investments industry. From 2016-2018, he was a Bond Trader at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York City on both the Mortgage-Backed Securities and Global Credit/Special Situations Trading Desks. From 2018-2019, he was an Investment Banker at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, focused on financial modeling and advising on IPOs and mergers & acquisitions. In 2020, Jordan was a Private Equity Investor for Brightstar Capital Partners in New York City, focused on complex quantitative investment modeling and executing majority stake buyout investments.
He graduated summa cum laude, with his bachelor’s degree in Finance with a concentration in Macroeconomics, from Penn State in 2016.
He is a certified strength and conditioning coach (CSCS) by the NSCA and certified by USAW as a level one weightlifting coach.
