Gus Stark
In 2025-26, Gus Stark began his first year as the Director of Photography for LSU Athletics and his seventh as a full-time staff member. Stark oversees two full-time photographers and a group of 20 students who capture recruiting visits for prospective student-athletes as well as games, matches and surrounding events for LSU’s 21 varsity sports.
A native of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Stark is the primary photographer for the LSU Football team and spent the 2022-24 seasons capturing all events surrounding the program as the director of football photography. He continues to work alongside the creative team to develop recruiting sets for official visits and is embedded with the team on a day-to-day basis.
Prior to his move to football full time in the summer of 2022, Stark worked as a photography coordinator. He was the primary photographer with the men’s basketball, women’s basketball and baseball programs, which included SEC Championships and Men’s College World Series appearances.
He captured many iconic moments during the 2019 LSU Football season including Heisman-winning quarterback Joe Burrow’s senior night and national championship victory cigar moment following the game.
Stark has been an integral part of LSU’s campaigns for the program’s last two Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks – Burrow and Jayden Daniels – with Daniels’ win earning the best marketing campaign by a college or University by Cynopsis Sports. His photograph of Cade York’s game-winning field goal in the fog against Florida in 2020 was featured in the Washington Post.
A 2018 graduate of LSU, Stark married his wife Whitney (Williston) in August 2022. He earned his master’s degree in Leadership and Human Resource Development in August 2021 and will graduate with his Master’s in Business Administration in December 2025.
