Grant Kauvar enters his fourth year as an Assistant Communications Director within LSU Athletic Communications. He was originally hired in August of 2021 after working for six years as a student and then graduate assistant with athletic communications.

Getting his start with women’s basketball at the same time as Coach Kim Mulkey’s hiring, Kauvar has leveraged LSU’s resurgence under Coach Mulkey to build the LSU Women’s Basketball brand on a national level. Under Kauvar’s guidance, the LSU Women’s Basketball brand on social media has skyrocketed to become one of the most followed programs in the country, catapulted by the Tigers’ captivating 2023 National Championship victory. He was a producer on the documentary “Piece By Piece” that told the story of LSU’s first national championship in women’s basketball.

Kauvar’s first sport responsibility at LSU came with Beach Volleyball going into the 2018 seasons. Through social media he created a brand around the LSU Beach Volleyball program that captured the sport’s fast nature and LSU’s unique position of having a nationally relevant program in a state with minimal beaches. He helped drive fans to LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium in 2020 which saw a NCAA on-campus record crowd of 2,407 fans show up to watch a top-two matchup between LSU and UCLA which LSU won and propelled the Tigers to their first ever No. 1 ranking. He was a finalist for the AVCA Grant Burger Media Award in 2021.

As a graduate assistant, Kauvar helped keep track of LSU Football’s record-setting season in 2019 which saw the Tigers win the national championship. Along with working on game notes, Kauvar assisted in coordinating football interviews and social media which was awarded the Sport’s Business Journal Best in Social Media honor.

The Boulder, Colorado native graduated from LSU in December of 2018 with his bachelor’s degree in athletic administration and a minor in business. He earned his master’s degree from LSU in May of 2021 in interdisciplinary studies.
