Eric Held joined the LSU Football staff as the Director of High School Relations in April 2025.

Held came to LSU after serving as the Director of the Louisiana High School Coaches Association for the LHSAA for the previous six years. He was responsible for coaches education and awards programs, LHSCA All-Star games, the LHSCA Summer Coaches Clinic, the LHSCA Scholarship program, assisting with LHSAA championship events, working on multiple initiatives with the New Orleans Saints, along with directing the sport of golf for the LHSAA and coordinating the sport of football with the LHSAA Executive Director.

Held served on the Louisiana Football Coaches Association Board for 13 thirteen and acquired speaker talent for the annual December LFCA Superdome Prep Classic Coaches Clinic for 10 years.

Held was a high school social studies teacher and coach for twenty-five years prior to his work with the LHSCA/LHSAA and a head football coach for seven of those twenty-five seasons. He served as the special teams coordinator / running backs coach at Catholic High (Baton Rouge), helping the program to two Division I state championships and one state runner-up.  Held was a longtime veteran coach at the LSU Summer Football Camps under Sam Nader and Charles Baglio.

Held is a 1989 graduate of Brother Martin High School in New Orleans and a two-year letterman as a kickoff specialist, punter, and holder at Nicholls State. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1993 and master’s degree in educational leadership from LSU-Shreveport in 2024. Held and his wife, Debbie, have two children: Tyler (26) and Allie (23).
