Eddie Hicks serves as a lead defensive analyst for the Tigers, joining the program in the spring of 2023. Hicks joined the Tigers after one year coaching cornerbacks at Jacksonville State.

In his first year at LSU, the Tigers won 10 games for the second consecutive season and beat Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

In his one season at Jacksonville State, the Gamecocks posted a 9-2 record as they transitioned from the FCS to FBS.

Prior to that, Hicks spent three years at Charlotte coaching the cornerbacks for a 49ers team that set school-records for wins (7) and longest winning-streak (5) as well as the program’s first-ever trip to a bowl game (Bahamas Bowl) in 2019.

A two-time All-Conference USA defensive back at Southern Miss, Hicks returned to his alma mater in 2018 as the cornerbacks coach for the Golden Eagles. In his one season at Southern Miss, the Golden Eagles led Conference USA in pass defense and held opponents to only 14 passing touchdowns, while recording 14 interceptions, third-most in the league.

Other coaching stops for Hicks include Austin Peay (2016-17), and Murray State (2015). In 2017, Austin Peay went 8-4 and finished as runner-up in the Ohio Valley Conference after going winless in 2016.

Hicks got his start in coaching in 2012 as a graduate assistant at Alcorn State. He followed that as a graduate assistant at Cincinnati (2013) followed by one year as defensive quality control assistant at Cal.

Hicks earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southern Miss in 2012. He earned All-Conference USA honors in 2008-09 and was named to the All-Freshman team in 2006.

Hicks capped his career at Southern Miss with 13 interceptions and 238 total tackles. He returned an interception 87-yards for a touchdown against East Carolina as a freshman. During his Southern Miss career, the Golden Eagles appeared in four bowl games, winning the GMAC Bowl in 2006 and the New Orleans Bowl in 2008.

A native of Clarksdale, Miss., he and his wife, JoTrina, have two sons, Eddie V and Jayvion and a daughter, Emani.
