Destiny Harris is a graduate student in the LSU School of Social and serves the 2024-25 Social Work Intern for LSU Sport Psychology & Counseling.

Harris’ previous internship was with National Heritage Academies, providing mental health services for elementary through eighth grade students. Through her internship, she was able to identify and assess the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students from under-resourced communities. During her internship, she was responsible for organizing and coordinating services for students in distress, while employing cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and skills groups to address the needs of those students.

Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from Louisiana State University in 2012. Harris’s post-baccalaureate career included nine years of teaching English Language Arts in elementary, middle and high school settings. Furthermore, she has been involved with the TRIO Upward Bound Program for the past four years, aiding high school students in their journey to become first-generation college graduates.

Following her completion of the social work program in May of 2025, Harris plans to earn her LCSW to meet the social and emotional needs of children, adults, and families.
