Beth Rex Season 2025
Beth Rex, a longtime member of Brian Kelly’s staff at Notre Dame and Cincinnati, joined the LSU football staff in December of 2021. Rex serves as the chief of staff for the LSU football program and oversees all aspects of the program. She also serves as the primary point person for all matters related to Kelly and the LSU football program.
Rex spent 12 years at Notre Dame with Kelly, serving as chief of staff for the Fighting Irish football program. She joined Kelly at Notre Dame after working on his staff at Cincinnati.
Prior to joining Kelly’s football staff at Cincinnati, Rex served as an athletics trainer for the Bearcats from 2001-08 and worked with the football, baseball, women’s basketball, men’s soccer, tennis, men’s and women’s golf, cheerleading and dance teams. Among her various duties during that span, Rex managed the administrative responsibilities of the athletics training room, oversaw the budget, handled all purchases and inventory and processed all medical claims for Cincinnati’s student-athletes.
Rex also served as an adjunct professor at Cincinnati from 2006-08 and taught medical terminology, sports administration and athletics training.
Prior to Cincinnati, Rex was an assistant athletics trainer at the University of Memphis for two years (1999-2001) and one year at the College of Wooster (1998-99). She worked with the baseball, women’s basketball and men’s soccer teams at Memphis and at Wooster she managed the athletic training duties for 21 varsity sports. While living in Memphis, she assisted the Memphis Maniax of the Xtreme Football League in the spring of 2001.
From 1997-98, Rex worked at the National Athletic Trainers Association in Dallas where she was a continuing education assistant.
Rex graduated in 1996 from Cincinnati with a bachelor’s degree in education. She began her career as a graduate assistant at Eastern Kentucky where she earned her master’s degree in physical education with an emphasis in sports administration. She’s earned a second master’s degree from Notre Dame in 2023.
In addition to her work at LSU, Rex is actively involved with the Kelly Cares Foundation – the non-profit organization established by the Kelly Family that raises money to for breast cancer research.
A native of Tiffin, Ohio, Rex was born Jan. 2, 1973, and is married to Byron Rex.
