Ben Morales
Ben Morales serves as the Assistant Manager of Sport Science and Strength & Conditioning Coach for LSU Football. He transitioned into this position in April 2025, from his previous role as the Sports Science Project Coordinator for the School of Kinesiology and LSU Football.
Morales coordinates the logistics and deployment of athlete monitoring systems for daily training operations. He is responsible for developing proprietary data science pipelines that automate analysis, thereby streamlining performance data reporting for coaching staff. Additionally, Morales oversees the P.A.C.T. System—a tracking framework designed to monitor culture, discipline, and accountability. This system provides organization-wide data on non-football metrics, ensuring cultural standards are aligned across the program.
Prior to his current role, Morales facilitated NFL sports science research collaborations focused on player health and performance. This work integrated athlete monitoring with game analytics to examine performance trends while fostering collaboration between Athletic Training, Performance Innovation, and Athletic Development. Earlier in his career, Morales served as a sport scientist at Indiana State University, where he helped develop monitoring programs for Men’s Basketball and Football and served as an instructor for the undergraduate Biomechanics curriculum.
Morales is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Kinesiology at LSU. His research focuses on applying data science techniques in sports science and human performance, specifically utilizing machine learning and applied statistical methods to enhance movement assessment. He holds a Master of Arts in Physical Education-Exercise Science from Indiana State University (2022) and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Lamar University (2019).
A Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association, Morales started coaching as a strength and conditioning intern with Lamar University Football and various Olympic sports in 2019. As a former collegiate athlete, he was a member of the Southland Conference (SLC) Cross Country Championship teams in 2016, 2017, and 2019. On the track, he competed in the 400m, 800m, and 4x400m relay, securing four Top 10 career finishes.
