In January of 2021, Todd Politz was promoted to General Content Manager for the multimedia rights holder of LSU Athletics – LSU Sports Properties – after serving as Director of Digital Media since June of 2012.

Politz oversees the daily operations of the LSU Athletics Department’s primary web presence – LSUsports.net – along with live streaming of all LSU sports programming, third-party integrations including Fanatics and mobile applications, and partnership integrations including Fanatics. He also assists the LSU Sports Properties sales and client services teams with developing, implementing and improving upon inventory and revenue opportunities both online and on-campus.

He is a liaison between LSU Sports Properties and multiple arms of the athletics department, and he maintains historical and digital records for LSU’s 21 athletics teams while assisting the Communications Department with live event statistics input and dissemination.

With more than 20 years of experience within the LSU Athletics Department, Politz began his career working as a student assistant in the LSU Sports Information Department from 1997-99 under the guidance of industry stalwarts including Herb Vincent, Michael Bonnette, Fred Demarest, Kent Lowe, and Bill Franques among many other contemporaries who continue to revolutionize the profession. Politz was the primary point of contact for the University’s gymnastics and women’s tennis programs, and oversaw the department’s athletics website during his final two seasons as an undergraduate.

Following his graduation from LSU’s Manship School of Mass Communications in 1999 (B.M.C., journalism, magna cum laude), Politz was hired by local telecommunications provider and LSU Athletics corporate partner EATEL to assist in development and content management of the next generation of the department’s athletics website, LSUsports.net. Alongside colleagues Jason Domangue, Scott Calbert and Pou-Lin Wu, Politz worked to create a customized content management solution for LSU Athletics. EATEL’s website division also developed one of the first subscription-based audio and video streaming platforms in collegiate athletics, which was put in production during the 1999-2000 athletics season.

Politz stepped away from day-to-day oversight of LSUsports.net from October 2003 until July 2005, while working as a Project Coordinator and then Account Representative for a newly formed website division at EATEL named EATELWEB.

In July of 2005, Politz was hired by Viacom Sports (d.b.a. LSU Sports Properties) as LSU Sports Interactive Manager to again reimagine and assist in development of the next iteration of the LSU Athletics website and its live audio and video subscription offerings. During this time, revenue generated through advertising, merchandise and subscriptions increased to more than $1 million annually, as the service included live video streaming of LSU Athletics events such as baseball and softball games.

In June of 2012, Politz was promoted to Director of Digital Media, adding to his duties the oversight of LSU Sports Radio network broadcast studio operations.

Politz is a native of Baton Rouge and an honors graduate of Catholic High School. He is married to Ashley Guillory Politz and the couple have a daughter, Samantha.
