Marci Kornegay enters her second season as the assistant coach for Karen Bahnsen and the LSU women’s golf team. So far, since joining the program in January 2002, she has shown her ability to aid the program with tournament organization of the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic and the NCAA East Regional as well as helping the program in the important facets of recruiting.

Kornegay, a native of Savannah, Ga., received her Bachelor of Arts in Leisure Management in 2001 from Ole Miss after an outstanding four-year golf career at the Oxford university. She was the 2001 team captain and the two-time winner of the team leadership award and a three-time holder of the Rebel award for cumulative low score.

The former collegiate star was also deeply involved in the CHAMPS Life skills program at Ole Miss, earning the Extra Effort Award twice from the Athletic Department. She was also a multiple-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll during her time at Ole Miss.

Kornegay also worked in 2001 as a tournament operations intern for the American Junior Golf Association which conducts tournaments for the top junior golfers throughout the country and served two summers as an administrative assistant in the University of Mississippi Athletic Office.
