In 1975, Mrs. Batiste Boutte became the first African American female to play varsity basketball and volleyball at LSU. As a senior for the women’s basketball team, she averaged 9.2 ppg and 7.8 rpg. She ranks 4th all-time at LSU in rebounds with 1,017 in 121 career games. She also led the 1975-76 team with 402 rebounds.
