Michaela Mabrey Season 2024-25
LSU women’s basketball head coach Nikki Fargas has announced the hiring of Michaela Mabrey to the position of director of recruiting. Mabrey made four consecutive appearances in the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament as a student-athlete at Notre Dame, including three runs to the Women’s Final Four in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
In her new role, Mabrey will coordinate the daily recruiting operational and logistical processes for the women’s basketball program.
Mabrey, a native of Belmar, New Jersey, was a four-year letterwinner for Notre Dame from 2012-16 and part of the winningest class in Fighting Irish women’s basketball history. Notre Dame made two appearances in the National Championship game (2014 and 2015), three in the Women’s Final Four (2013) and made it to the Sweet Sixteen in 2016. She moved into the starting lineup as a junior in 2014-15 and emerged as one of the top three-point shooters in the Atlantic Coast Conference during her final three seasons. Mabrey ended her collegiate career with 228 three-point field goals in 142 career games to rank in the top 10 on the Notre Dame all-time list in both categories.
Mabrey served as a team captain in her junior and senior years. She also was the women’s basketball representative on the Notre Dame Student-Athlete Advisory Council and Rosenthal Leadership Academy. Mabrey earned the team’s Most Improved Player award following her sophomore season.
After graduation, Mabrey became the coordinator of program and player development at the University of Miami for the 2016-17 season, aiding the staff in preparing scouting material and conducting on-campus recruiting visits. Mabrey spent last season as an assistant coach on the Miami University staff. The Redhawks finished the 2017-18 season 21-11 and ranked first in the nation with the biggest turn-around by a first-year coaching staff.
Mabrey earned her bachelor’s degree in film and television in 2016.
