Junior season (2000)
Added three more All-American honors to her resume`, becoming a critical member of the Lady Tiger relays in 2000 … Ran the third leg of the Lady Tigers’ 4×400-meter relay squad indoors, which finished third at the SEC Championships and seventh at the NCAA Indoor meet … Only saw limited action during the indoor season due to injuries, long jumping only once and running the 200 once while only running the relay at the conference and national meets … During the outdoor season she qualified for the NCAA Championships in three events, running the 200-meter dash and as part of both relays … She helped the Lady Tigers to a second place finish in the 4×100-meter relay at the NCAA Championships and a seventh place finish in the mile relay, a race that set the stage for Keisha Spencer to seal the NCAA title for LSU … Ran a season best time of 23.45 in the 200 during the 2000 season … Finished 12th at the SEC Championships … Injuries forced her to not long jump during the outdoor season, but she did help the Lady Tigers to a victory in the 4×200-meter relay at the Penn Relays … She ran the third leg of the SEC champion 4×100-meter relay team, the third time in as many years since she has been a member of the short relay that they claimed the league title … Also ran a season-best 53.65 in the quarter in her outdoor opener at the U.S. Collegiate Series in Baton Rouge.
Sophomore season (1999)
Had another fantastic season in 1999, picking up three more All-American honors in her second season at LSU … For the second consecutive season she earned All-American honors in both the long jump and 4×400 meter relay indoors … After finishing eighth in the long jump at the indoor national meet as a freshman, she placed sixth in 1999 with a jump of 20-41/4 … Ran the second leg of the Lady Tigers’ mile relay group that finished third at the NCAA Indoor meet in a time of 3:33.22 … Qualified for the NCAA Indoor meet in the 200 as well by virtue of her time of 23.83, registered in a fourth place finish at the SEC meet … Finished 13th in the deuce at the NCAA Indoor Championships with a preliminary time of 23.91 … Opened the indoor season in fine fashion, winning the 200 in a provisional time of 24.11, while finishing second in the long jump with a provisional leap of 20-3 … Helped clinch the SEC Indoor title for the Lady Tigers, running the second leg on the mile relay group that shattered the school record in the event with a time of 3:32.06 … Had a tremendous outdoor season … Opened the season running the anchor of the 4×100 meter relay, helping the Lady Tigers to their fastest time of the season, an NCAA automatic time of 43.40 at the Texas Relays … Finished fifth in the long jump at the Texas Relays with a windy leap of 20-7, then ran a 200 meter leg on the school-record breaking sprint medley relay group that won the title … Ran a blazing 23.08 in the 200 to finish second at the LSU Alumni Gold Relays, the mark that got her into the NCAA 200 meter field outdoors … Ran the third leg of the Penn Relays’ runner-up 4×100 meter relay team, the second leg of the champion 4×200 meter relay team and the third leg of the runner-up mile relay team that ran a provisional time of 3:33.60 in the prelims, qualifying for the NCAA meet … Finished fifth in the 200 at the SEC Outdoor Championships, fourth in the long jump and ran the second leg of the champion 4×100 meter relay team … Showed her impressive versatility by running a 52.73 in the 400 the week before the NCAA meet … The mark would have qualified her for the quarter at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, but she chose to compete in the 200 instead … Advanced to the semifinal round of the 200 at the NCAA Outdoor meet for the second consecutive year, but just missed the final with her time of 23.28 … Ran the third leg of the Lady Tigers’ mile relay team that blazed to a time of 3:32.07 and finished fourth at the NCAA Outdoor meet.
Freshman season (1998)
Gathered four All-American honors in her first season as a Lady Tiger … Ran the fastest time ever by an LSU freshman in the 200 (22.73), faster than such previous Lady Tiger All-Americans, Esther Jones, Peta-Gaye Dowdie and Cheryl Taplin … Earned two All-American honors during the indoor season, finishing eighth in the long jump despite being the final qualifier in the field, and while running the third leg of the mile relay … Showed tremendous poise by anchoring the mile relay group that posted a victory at the SEC Indoor Championships that clinched the SEC team title … Finished fourth at the SEC Indoor Championships in the long jump with a leap of 20-31/2 … Ran on the third leg of the mile relay team that qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships with a time of 3:35.65 at the Canon IV Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. … Had a tremendous outdoor season, becoming an integral part of both the Lady Tigers’ short and long relays, while also becoming one of the premier 200 meter sprinters in the nation … Ran the third leg of the 4×100 meter relay team that won all six meets they ran in before finishing second at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in a seaon-best time of 43.02 … Ran the third leg of the 4×100 meter relay team that broke the Penn Relays record in the event with a time of 43.42 … Ran the third leg of the 4×200 meter relay team that broke the school record in the event with a time of 1:31.27 at the Penn Relays … Burst onto the 200 scene at the UTEP-Sierra Invitational with a wind-aided 23.04, good for second place … A week later she proved that her mark at UTEP was legitimate, running a legal 23.06 to win the title at the LSU Alumni Gold Relays … At the SEC Outdoor Championships she became the first Lady Tiger to ever run a sub-23 second time in the 200 when she uncorked a 22.79 to win her heat of the prelims … Finished fourth in the final with a time of 23.04 … Ran the third leg on both SEC Champion relay groups, passing the baton around for a 43.51 in the short relay and 3:30.89 in the mile relay … Advanced to the semifinals of the 200 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships … Earned the final two All American honors of her freshman season as the third leg of the NCAA runner-up 4×100 meter relay team and as the second leg of the sixth-place mile relay team.
Prep Career
One of the most decorated athletes to come out of the state of Louisiana … Was an 18-time Louisiana State Champion, winning the 400 three times indoors, twice outdoors, the long jump four times indoors and three times outdoors, the 55 indoor title twice, the 100 and 200 outdoor titles once each, and was a member of state champion relay teams in the 4×200 and 4×400 … Owns the state indoor records in the 400 and long jump … Owns the Class 5A outdoor records in the long jump and 200 … Has competed at the highest level since the age of 10 … Set Youth National records in the 100, 200 and long jump … Her long jump record of 18-3 at age 12 still stands … Has been a member of the Gatorade Circle of Champions and competed in the Snickers Sprint, Run, and Jump exhibition at the 1992 Olympic Trials in New Orleans … Graduated with honors, ranking sixth in her class and was selected Student of the Year.
