One of the top dual-sport athletes in the nation coming out of high school… the No. 2 60-meter sprinter, No. 2 100-meter sprinter and No. 5 200-meter sprinter in the nation in 2024, as-well-as a four-star wide receiver ranked No. 5 nationally at the position by ESPN… a two-time All-American and eight-time state champion at the Texas UIL State Championship meet in track and field… the 2023-24 Gatorade Player of the Year for Texas track & field… won state titles in the 100m, 200 meter and 4x100m relay at the 2024 Texas UIL 6A State Championships… broke the tape in the 100-meter dash at the UIL Class 6A state meet, clocking a personal-best time of 10.19 seconds, which ranked No. 2 nationally among boys prep competitors and No. 23 in prep history… also at the state meet, Watkins took gold in the 200m in 20.60 seconds—the nation’s No. 5 time in 2024… anchored the nation’s best relay team to gold at the Texas UIL Championships with a time of 39.14 seconds… anchored the Eagles 4×100-meter relay as the group became the first high school foursome to run sub-39 in the event, clocking a national-record time of 38.92 seconds at the Rice Annual Victor Lopez Classic to break a 26-year-old mark by close to a second… clocked the No. 2 time in the nation for the 60 meter at the 2024 116th Millrose Games with 6.68 seconds to take gold… a three-time state champion in 2023 during the outdoor season with victories in the 200m, 4x100m relay and the 4×400-meter relay at the Texas UIL State Championships… claimed the state title in the 200m in 2023 with a personal-best time of 20.54 seconds… helped the 4x100m relay team to gold at the state meet with their time of 40.01 seconds… part of the 4x400m relay that claimed gold at the 2023 Texas state meet with a time of 3:11.69… as part of the Klein Forest HS team, claimed the state title in the 200m at the 2022 Texas UIL State Championships with a time of 20.78 seconds… at the same meet, helped the Klein Forest HS 4×200-meter relay team to gold with their time of 1:23.37… held personal-best times of 6.67 seconds (60m), 10.19 seconds (100m) and 20.54 seconds (200m) in high school… plans to also play football at LSU… older brother Monte Watkins plays running back at New Mexico State.
