Highly-touted swimming prospect out of the state of Florida … Prepped at Belen Jesuit High in Miami for four years … Was an All-American in the 50 freestyle as a junior and senior … Won the state title in the 50 free as a junior and was state champion in the 100 free as a senior … Named Miami Herald “Swimmer of the Year” … Voted “Athlete of the Year” in 2002 at Belen Jesuit … Never lost a race in dual meets as a senior … Also swam the breaststroke and butterfly … Received the Presidential Academic Award … Coached by Kirk Peppas.
