Chase Kreitler Season 2024-25
Joining the LSU Swimming & Diving program in the summer of 2013, Chase Kreitler is in his third season as an assistant coach for the Tigers.
Working with the middle-distance and distance swimmers, Kreitler has mentored four individual school record holders and athletes on three LSU record-setting relays.
During the 2014-2015 season, Kreitler coached Frank Greeff to a silver medal in the 100 butterfly at the SEC Championships and career-best time (46.11). At the 2015 NCAA Championships, Greeff broke his LSU 200 butterfly record (1:42.87) for the third time in two years under Kreitler’s watch. Greeff also posted the program’s second-fastest 200 IM time (1:45.08) in the prelims of the NCAA Championships. In 2014, Greeff finished a career high of 10th at the NCAA Championships in the 200 butterfly, earning honorable mention All-American status for the second time in his career.
At the 2015 SEC Championships, sophomore Devon Dabney, broke LSU’s record in the 500 Free (4:45.91) along with posting the third fastest 1000 freestyle (9:54.02) and second fastest 1650 freestyle (16:26.58) in program history. Dabney and Junior Megan Cox were also part of the record setting 800 freestyle relay (7:06.76) that qualified for the NCAA Championship. Sophomore Logan Rysemus also swam the second fastest 100 backstroke in LSU history (46.48) leading off the record breaking 400 Medley Relay (3:09.23).
In the past two seasons with the Tigers, 12 athletes under Kreitler’s guidance have posted over 35 times in LSU’s all-time top 10.
Prior to LSU, Kreitler was an assistant coach at Eastern Michigan University. During his time at EMU, the men’s swimming and diving program won back-to-back Mid-American Conference Championships in 2012 and 2013. Kreitler coached two-time All American Jacob Hanson and the combined men’s and women’s programs broke 20 team records.
While in Michigan, Kreitler also coached for the nationally renowned USA Swimming team, Club Wolverine. In the summer of 2013, he helped lead Club Wolverine to a first place team finish at the Central Zone Sectional Meet.
Prior to Eastern Michigan, Kreitler spent two seasons (2009 – 2011) as an assistant coach for the Cal State Bakersfield men’s program. During his two years working with sprinters, CSUB swimmers broke 10 team records. During the 2010-11 season, the team won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference title.
Kreitler also spent the summer of 2011 in Fort Collins, Colorado, as a co-director and coach of the Athletes in Action Colorado Swim Project. He trained collegiate athletes during an eight week high-altitude training camp.
Kreitler swam at California State University Bakersfield from 2005-2009 where he was a co-captain as a senior and was named the outstanding student in student exercise science.
Kreitler, a native of Valley Village, California, completed his undergraduate degree in exercise science from California State University, Bakersfield in 2009 and his master’s degree in exercise physiology from Eastern Michigan in 2014. Chase and his wife, Elizabeth (Thurston) were recently married in October 2015.
