Renee' Balconi Season 2024
Reneé Balconi joined the LSU strength and conditioning staff in March of 2020. She works primarily for the women’s soccer team and has over 20 years of experience. Through her career, she has trained some of the most elite athletes in the nation and has spent time researching and developing various methods and philosophies.
As the head performance coach for LSU soccer, some of Balconi’s responsibilities include year-round periodization and programming for team and individual athletes in all performance areas, guides daily decision making on recovery, preparation, and individual specific needs and integrates mandatory mobility, stability, and prevention programming into daily routines. She also works closely with the program’s athletic trainer, sports nutritionist, and sports psychologist to ensure collaborative approach for her student-athletes.
In her training with LSU athletes, Balconi prioritizes sport and positional specific movements, load and heart rate monitoring, range of motion with mobility, core movements, strength and power and much more.
She came to LSU after serving as the owner of Balconi Top Training, a company she founded and built in 2009. Balconi trained a number of professional athletes during her tenure at Balconi Top Training while also serving as a high performance director for a number of universities and high schools. Over the past decade, she has helped develop various sport-specific programs for athletes.
Balconi is currently set to complete her master’s degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University next summer. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Cincinnati in 2005.
A native of Westerville, Ohio, Balconi has her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and her USAW Level 1 certification. She has been a NSCA CSCS dating back to 2017, and has been certified by the National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association as a personal trainer, sports nutritionist, and yoga instructor since 2009. She is presently enrolled to earn her Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS) certification.
Balconi was a four-year starter for the University of Cincinnati soccer team from 2000-04 while playing as a defender. She served as the team captain in 2004 and was named to the Conference USA Second Team that season.
At Balconi Top Training, Reneé designed, implemented and reviewed all programming for every athlete and every team that trained at her facility. She worked with current U.S. national soccer team member, Rose Lavelle, while also training athletes from the NFL, NWSL, MLB, MLS, and the NBA. She also worked with a wide range of collegiate programs in a plethora of sports that included soccer, volleyball, swimming, lacrosse, field hockey, track and field, and basketball.
She is married to Lindsey Balconi, who is an assistant coach for the women’s soccer team at Air Force. Together they have one son, DiMaggio Balconi.
