“I am extremely excited to join the LSU women’s soccer program,” Maullin said. “To join a program and athletic department like LSU is a dream. I want to thank coach Debbie Hensley for this opportunity and am looking forward to working with her and the rest of the staff.

“I want to thank Arkansas for the opportunity they provided me, a big thank you to Colby Hale and his staff and players. They have a terrific program.”

Maullin, who has his EUFA coaching license, compiled an overall record of 81-73-24 record during his time as head coach at UNC-Greensboro over the past nine years, including a 42-24-10 mark in Southern Conference action. He guided the Spartans to five SoCon regular season titles and four SoCon Tournament titles during his 14 years on staff, and he was 2010 SoCon Coach of the Year in his inaugural season as head coach.

During his time as head coach, he tutored Jacques Francois to Player of the Year honors in 2015 when Francois led the conference in goals (8) and assists (10) for a total of 26 points. He had a pair of freshmen win the Freshman of the Year award in 2015 and 2017 sandwiched around 2016. In 2015, he helped Leeroy Maguraushe earn Freshman All-America honors along with the freshman of the year accolade after he scored eight goals to go along with eight assists. In 2017, Nelson Oceano became the second Spartan in a three-year span to garner the Freshman of the Year award. He led UNC-Greensboro and ranked fourth in the SoCon with 13 points to top the freshman part of that category. Oceano did a bit of everything as he scored four goals and added in five assists.

A native of Johannesburg, South Africa, Maullin spent the prior six seasons at the University of Central Florida before he made his move to UNC-Greensboro. While at UCF, the Golden Knights won 10 or more matches in five out of six seasons and made three trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Maullin attended William Carey College in Gulfport, Mississippi and graduated in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing. During his time with the Crusaders, he served as a team captain and earned NAIA Academic All-America honors. He helped William Carey rise to a No. 1 national ranking during his senior season.

Maullin was drafted into the Eastern Indoor Soccer League. He played two years for the Cocoa Expos and two years for the Central Florida Kraze. In 1993 he signed with the New Orleans Gamblers. After his graduation from William Carey, he stayed on with the Crusaders as an assistant men’s soccer coach for two seasons, helping guide the Crusaders to back-to-back NAIA national semifinal appearances. He helped William Carey to a No. 1 ranking again as an assistant coach in 1997 and 1998.

In 2011 he was inducted as a member of the inaugural Hall of Fame class at William Carey. Maullin earned a master’s degree in business administration from UCF in December of 2001. He and his wife, Brittany, have a son Hylton and a daughter, Evan.
