After joining Brian Lee’s coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach prior to the 2012 season, Baton Rouge Soccer Club Executive Director Gary Buete returns to work with the development of LSU’s talented group of goalkeepers during the 2013 season.

Buete has orchestrated the rise of one of the state’s premier club programs over the past 13 years as the BRSC has captured more than 40 Louisiana state titles among all age groups since the summer of 2000. It has also doubled in participation from 3,500 players when Buete was appointed executive director to nearly 7,000 players in the organization during the 2013 season.

A seven-year veteran of the Region III Olympic Development Program Team coaching staff, Buete is the head coach for the 2000 age group and has also served as the assistant coach for the 1998 and 1999 groups in the Region III ODP system for three years. He has also served as a member of the Louisiana ODP coaching staff during his tenure.

Buete received his undergraduate degree in exercise physiology from Lander University in 1994 before he earned his master’s degree in sport management from East Tennessee State University in 1996. He earned NSCAA All-America honors as a junior college standout.

Buete has earned a United States Soccer Federation “A” License and a National Youth License.
