SENIOR SEASON (2018)
The All-American senior pitcher appeared in 29 games this season with 21 starts compiling a 16-7 record … she had a 1.60 earned run average in 161.2 innings pitched holding her opponents to a .171 batting average … Hoover had six double digit strikeout games, while recording a team-high 186 strikeouts on the year … in the 21 starts she had 18 complete games and seven shut-outs … she had two saves on the year, which put her into sole possession of second most in LSU history for a career with 10 … on February 16th, Hoover gave a strong performance pitching nine innings and fanning eight batters in a 2-1 victory for the Tigers … against Ole Miss her full pitching arsenal was on display when she pitched a gem with a seven innings shut-out striking out a season high 14 batters … on April 24th she dominated South Alabama throwing a seven inning no-hitter with only two base runners all night and striking out seven for the Tigers … during the week of March 13th she was awarded NFCA Co-Pitcher of the week honors because of her weekend performance against Auburn, where she earned two victories with 18 strikeouts in 14.2 innings of work … was a 2018 Senior CLASS Top 30 finalist … selected with the ninth pick in second round of the 2018 National Pro Fast Pitch Draft to the Cleveland Comets … was a First-Team NFCA All-South Region selection … was a Third-Team NFCA All-American selection.
JUNIOR SEASON (2017)
Appeared 33 times while starting 19 games … Had a team low ERA of 1.19 … Achieved 14 complete games … Surrendered only 27 earned runs … Led the team in strikeouts with 169 … Had a record of 15-8 … Held opponents to a .175 batting average … Did not surrender a triple throughout the entire season … Ranked fourth in the SEC with a 1.17 ERA during Conference play … Threw 47.2 innings and struck out 49 hitters over ten SEC appearances … Threw a no-hitter on February 15 against Louisiana Tech and struck out 11 hitters … Followed the no-hitter with a one-hitter in her next start while striking out 10 batters … Had 15 games in which she did not allow a single earned run … Had 10 or more strikeouts in five outings during the course of the season … Held opponents to three hits or fewer in nine of her starts … On May 21, she fired two complete game victories in the NCAA Regional with LSU on the brink of elimination … Threw in four of LSU’s five Baton Rouge Regional games … Gave up only 12 hits and one earned run over 19 innings during the Regional … Winning pitcher of record and clinched the Tigers third consecutive WCWS berth after allowing only three hits during 3.1 relief innings versus Florida State in the Super Regionals … Recorded her 15th postseason win during the team’s run to the WCWS, which tied her with Kristin Schmidt for second in program history … NFCA Division I South Region Second Team.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2016)
Finished her second season at LSU by leading the LSU pitching staff in wins, appearances, starts, complete games, innings pitched, strikeouts and opponent batting average… Was 22-8 on the season with a 2.27 ERA in 41 appearances and 25 starts and 194.1 innings pitched on the year… Had 19 complete games with five shutouts and two saves… Allowed 83 runs, 63 earned, on 153 hits with 225 strikeouts and 83 walks… Had an opponent batting average of .210… Became the first LSU player to win 20 games in a season since 2012… Her ERA was 15th in the SEC, finishing in the top 15 in strikeouts, games finished, opponent batting average, batters struck out looking, appearances, games in relief, innings pitched, wins and games started… Nationally, finished in the top 100 individually in ERA, strikeouts, strikeouts per seven innings and wins… Had five games with double-digit strikeouts… Allowed an earned run or less in 26 appearances on the season in the circle… Allowed three hits or less in 24 outings in the circle on the year… Won each of her first 10 decisions before suffering her first loss.. Struck out five and posted her first shutout of the season allowing three hits against Ohio State in the opener… Struck out 1 and scattered three hits in five innings with an unearned run crossing the plate against Pacific… Struck out seven UCLA batters and did not issue a walk in a win over UCLA… Struck out a career-high 15 batters in a win over Texas Tech in seven innings… Struck out 10 and pitched a shutout in five innings against Liberty… Came on in relief to earn a win over Louisiana Tech, striking out nine in 3.2 innings of work with a walk… Twirled her first collegiate no-hitter by striking out seven and walking two in five innings against Tennessee Tech… Earned her first save of the year and combined for the shutout by getting the final out against Longwood… Struck out eight in the SEC opener against Alabama, striking out eight again in the finale to secure the series… Struck out the 13 Florida batters in seven innings, the second-most for a pitcher in an SEC game on the year… Allowed just one run and struck out 10 Kentucky batters in the SEC series opener… Struck out six in 5.2 innings in a marathon win over Mississippi State… Struck out eight in a win over Arkansas… Earned the win in relief over Texas A&M in the SEC tournament, striking out three and allowing a run on three hits… Earned a win over Kentucky by striking out five and allowing a run on three hits… Earned her third win of the SEC tournament by striking out six and allowing two hits to Tennessee… Struck out eight McNeese State batters in the winner’s game of the NCAA Tournament, allowing just one run on five hits… Earned her second save of the year by allowing just one hit in 1.2 innings of work in the regional final against Arizona State… Struck out seven James Madison batters in the super regional opener… Earned the Women’s College World Series elimination game win over Alabama… Came back the next day and allowed just one run on three hits against Georgia in another elimination game at the WCWS.
REDSHIRT FRESHMAN SEASON (2015)
Joined LSU after transferring from Stanford in the summer of 2014… Was named the SEC Freshman of the Week and LSWA Pitcher of the Week twice and the SEC Pitcher of the Week once.. Was a finalist for the second NFCA DI National Freshman of the Year Award… Was a first team All-SEC selection, the seventh freshman in team history to make the first team cut, and a member of the SEC All-Freshman Team… Became the sixth player in team history to earn first team NFCA All-Region honors, while being one of a record five All-America selections making the cut on the third team… Was named to both the Baton Rouge Regional and Super Regional Team’s, while being the MVP of the regional round… Became the fourth pitcher in program history to be named the Louisiana Pitcher of the Year, while also being named a first team player… Led the LSU pitching staff in wins (18), earned run average (1.78), appearances (35), innings pitched (169.0), strikeouts (174), complete games (15) and saves (5), while finishing tied for first in shutouts (6) and starts (22)… Finished 20th in the nation in saves, 27th in the nation in ERA, while finishing in the top 70 individually in hits allowed per seven innings (5.72) and strikeouts per seven innings (7.2)… The five saves tied the single-season record now shared by Rachele Fico… Had 12 complete game wins on the season… Had 18 games with five or more strikeouts, with four double-digit strikeout contests… Became the sixth freshman in team history to earn double-digit strikeouts in their first start with 10 against Eastern Illinois… Struck out a career-high 12 twice, once against Tennessee and the other against Auburn…. Earned MVP honors of the NCAA Regional by having a 0.40 ERA after pitching in four of the five games on the weekend, going 2-1 and allowing just one run in 17.1 innings with 10 strikeouts a shutout and a save… Made the Super Regional team by twirling a shutout against Arizona in the first game of the series, allowing just one hit, while earning the save in game two to clinch… Pitched in all four games of the Women’s College World Series.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2014 at Stanford)
Went 2-0 with a 1.65 earned run average in five starts for the Cardinal, seeing limited action due to injury… Earned 26 strikeouts, holding opponents to four runs earned on 12 hits in 17 innings of work… Made debut against North Carolina State, fanning nine while allowing one run on four hits to earn the win in five.
HIGH SCHOOL
Was one of the most decorated prep athletes in the country coming out of D.W. Daniel High School in South Carolina, lettering in basketball, softball and volleyball… Was a five-time all-state selection and Seneca Daily Journal Player of the Year… Twice named the South Carolina 3A Player of the Year and the Gatorade South Carolina Player of the Year… Was a MaxPreps All-American in 2012 and 2013… Named the 2013 Gatorade National Player of the Year and the 2013 National High School Coaches Association Player of the Year… Won the conference championship three consecutive years, finishing as the state runner-up in 2012 and state champion in 2013… Earned 1,345 career strikeouts, averaging 2.00 strikeouts per inning in every season… Held an earned run average of 0.51 or below in three of her four seasons, including having a 0.15 ERA as a senior… Held opponents to a combined batting average of .079 or lower in every season, including her senior season where she was 16-4 with 338 strikeouts, allowing just three earned runs in 138 innings pitched and an opponent batting average of .062… At the plate finished with a .500 average, belting 28 home runs with a .710 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage over 1.000… Graduated with the high school national record for intentional walks with 157… In volleyball was a five-time all-region and three-time all-state pick, helping lead the team to a state championship in 2009… Was named the South Carolina 3A Player of the Year and a MaxPreps All-American in 2012… Competed for Team USA Volleyball Continental Team in 2009 and 2010… In basketball, helped lead the team to a state runner-up finish while being named to the all-region team as a freshman.

Full name is Carley Jordan Hoover… Daughter of Dave and Jolene Hoover… Father was an All-American in track and field at Lewis University and was inducted into the school’s hall of fame… Mother is the head coach of the Clemson volleyball team since 1993… Has a sister, Hayley, who plays volleyball at Southern Wesleyan… Major is undecided.
