One of the most successful coaches in the history of college tennis, Andy Brandi joined the LSU men’s tennis program in 2017 as co-head coach along with his son Chris.

In his first season as co-head coach of the LSU men’s tennis team, Andy Brandi led the Tigers to 10 overall wins and two SEC victories.

Brandi has only seen improvement at LSU since. In his second season, the team almost doubled their win total, earning 16 wins and winning 11 of their first 12 matches. The Tigers were No. 20 in the NCAA rankings and finished at No. 42. To top it off, LSU had the No. 14 ranked recruiting class, which is the highest in program history.

Prior to LSU, Andy Brandi served on the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Player Development staff as a national coach since 2010.

Before his work with the USTA, Andy Brandi worked at the IMG Bollettieri Acadmey, the Everett Academy and the Harold Solomon Tennis Institute.

As the head women’s tennis coach at Florida from 1985-2001, Andy Brandi led the Gators to three NCAA National Titles (1992, 1996, 1998) and to six National Team Indoor Championships (1989, 1991, 1992, 1996, 1998, 1999). He also guided the Florida women to 14 Southeastern Conference titles in his 17 seasons.

In addition to his three NCAA national titles, his teams finished as national runners-up at the NCAA Tournament five times and never finished lower than second in the SEC regular season standings.

Andy Brandi was inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame in 2006. In 1996 and 1998, he earned Coach of the Year honors from the United States Professional Tennis Registry, recognizing teaching excellence in the sport of tennis. In 1989 and 1996, he was voted the Wilson/ITA National Coach of the Year.

While at Florida, Andy Brandi coached four NCAA women’s singles champions and four NCAA doubles champions.

Under Andy Brandi, the Gators posted a 460-43 overall record, which included three undefeated seasons and three other years in which they lost only one match. Andy Brandi’s Florida teams had a 114-match regular season winning streak and overall winning streaks of 62 and 53 matches.

His overall winning percentage of 91.5 percent ranks as the highest for any coach in the history of women’s collegiate tennis with at least five years of experience.

During his time as the Gators’ head coach, Andy Brandi propelled Florida into a national powerhouse. The Gator women never lost a home match, dropped only five SEC dual matches and claimed nine SEC Tournament titles in Andy Brandi’s 17 years.

Thirteen student-athletes at Florida won 24 Grand Slam titles under Andy Brandi, and he coached 25 student-athletes to 68 All-America honors and 38 student-athletes to 108 All-SEC honors.

Every freshman who played four seasons under Andy Brandi earned All-SEC honors, competed for the national title and was part of at least three SEC Championship teams during their careers.

Andy Brandi played collegiate tennis at Trinity University in San Antonio and afterward trained with the legendary Harry Hoffman, working to establish himself on the pro circuit. After finding his calling to become a coach, he went on tour for top 10 WTA players Kathy Rinaldi and Carling Bassett.
