SENIOR SEASON (2008-09)
Played in 33 games, starting on Senior Night against Vanderbilt (3/4) … Equaled career high for second and third time in LSU career with seven points versus Northwestern State (Nov. 23) and seven versus South Carolina (1/14) … Had double figure rebounds of 10 vs. Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament (3/14) … Played double figure minutes in 25 games as the primary backup in the center position for starter Chris Johnson … Averaged 2.6 points per game, 3.0 rebounds and 13.8 minutes per game … In all played in 50 games over 1 ½ seasons with six starts … For the second straight season was over 50 percent from the field, making 53.2 of his attempts (33-of-62).
JUNIOR SEASON (2007-08)
After averaging 12.7 minutes a game, 2.7 points and 4.0 rebounds on the Canadian tour, Thornton’s first season at LSU was shortened after tearing a pectoral muscle in the weight room, requiring surgery … He returned to practice on Jan. 8 and played three minutes against Mississippi State the following day … Would start five games in late January and early February … Best game came against Ole Miss (1/12) when he scored seven points with eight rebounds in 27 minutes … Season best rebound total of nine came versus Arkansas on Jan. 29 … Played a season-best 36 minutes that night … Averages 1.1 points, 1.6 rebounds and 12.8 minutes per game.
